Annual examinations of the Biewer

We all know that it is better to prevent disease than to treat it later. And this wise rule fits not only the Biewer breed.

Preventive examinations are necessary for all pets. Every pet that is loved by its owners must undergo an annual medical examination. It is done so that the owner can understand whether he is feeding his pet correctly, whether his pet is moving enough or whether he has overweight, etc.

Our sires are tested in the American Embark laboratory for more than 200 genetic diseases. Puppies from our sires always undergo routine examinations to confirm their good health.

Why should I examine the puppy if everything is so okay? I will say that you need to examine your animal annually. Because I am sure that my experience and my skills in breeding will not lead my animals to unwanted diseases. I cannot guarantee the good health of my puppies, for the reason that they live with their owners. How the puppy is fed, what is he given to drink, how is he looked after – all of this is the responsibility of the owner.

Not everyone listens to my breeder`s advice. Not everyone follows the rules of feeding their pet in order to be sure that their dog does not eat anything strange on the street and then there won`t be unpleasant consequences after.

That is why I recommend all owners of my puppies to do annual, scheduled examinations in licensed trustworthy clinics. Even though you do not observe significant changes in the well-being and behavior of your pet, the examination should not be neglected. It is better to know for sure that everything is fine with your pets.

I recommend doing the following checkups every year:
  • Abdominal cavity ultrasound
  • Heart ultrasound
  • General blood analysis
  • Biochemical blood analysis
  • Urine test
  • Stool test

If you do these checkups annually, then it`ll possible to timely identify viable onset diseases and prevent their transition to the chronic stage.

It is our duty to take care of our pets` health, because by preventing the risk of getting a particular disease, we can ensure a happy and carefree life for our pets.
